Description
Co-Creation is a structured approach to composition and team building in groups that can take place in a hybrid, in-person, or virtual environment. It encourages all participants to explore how they are connected to everyone they are creating with, both near and far. This program allows in-person and virtual participation (either or both at the same time). Participants can collaborate and create music and art with people from all over the world using the “Cohere Touch” system (the augmented reality system that pairs with the orchestral piece by the same name).
Intended for groups of two up to 50 people, participants will work together to explore their space musically and sonically with tones and textures, expand their sense of time by creating rhythmic grooves, and invent an agreed upon score or form. The piece is usually a music-focused multimedia piece using any available creative tools and with access to the Cohere Touch system (processes real-time sound and video effects, AI and machine learning, drawings, notation, riffs or motifs, found sounds, creating samples for beats, live looping, and audio-reactive visuals that can be controlled through movement). This can happen over multiple sessions or one.
“The Traveling Orchestra”
In the spirit of the piece, “Cohere Touch”, a guest artist or artists can be beamed into the workshop in real time as a surprise for all those participating. The guest artists will play along and pretend to start and stop as though being played from a track and then be visually introduced to everyone. Guest artists can be beamed in from anywhere in the world (India,Uganda, Serbia, Berlin, Korea, New York, and more). I maintain a roster of highly skilled and versatile musicians with a wide breadth of experience as performers and teachers with experience working in this format. International Soloists already performing the “Cohere Touch” piece are well suited for this.

From the Composer
“Co-Creation is the name for what I try to embody when making music and art, and is the name of this program. It’s a perspective on creating that helps participants and performers to feel how we’re all connected and work together to make a piece of art that reacts those connections.” ~ Trevor New
